Reports are coming in that Australian dating sites grew by 5% during 2009. Experts expect the growth to continue with an anticipated 5% to 10% increase in 2010.
Experts claim the increase is due to the high divorce rate, aging population, and the general acceptance of the online dating platform. Those starting relationships are no longer just the younger crowd, and the more mature demographic have definitely embraced the internet. In today’s society people do not always have access to a suitable pool of potential partners and online dating sloves that problem.
Online dating has also shown good results. Recent surveys of online dating site participants have shown that approximately 40% knew someone who had been married as a result of an online relationship. Additionally, 11% knew of a couples having children as a result of relationships that started online.
Expect online dating to increase during the next ten years as they catch up with the UK and US, where the internet is already an accepted form of dating. After this period there will be a general decrease in population and online dating is expected to mirror this change.
